Jesus is the miraculous provider who fed a crowd of 5000 … but what if meeting all your physical needs won’t bring you the life you were hoping for? Jesus wants to provoke you until you come looking for more.
Process, journal or discuss the themes of this article - here's a few questions to get the ball rolling...
Welcome to the Weekend-Follow This is the group part of the Bible Challenge, so your questions are based on specific Bible passages from the weekend message. Each week, your group will discover what God might be saying to you, and how you can respond through a group discussion.
What’s the greatest (or biggest) meal you’ve ever eaten?
What stood out to you most from the message?
Read John 6:11. What does this tell you about His character?
Why can it be difficult to trust Jesus to provide?
Describe a time that you felt like Jesus provided for your needs. How did you see Him in that situation?
Read John 6:35. What do you think Jesus is trying to say here? What responses does Jesus’ statement provoke in you?
Jesus calls His disciples to believe that He is enough, that He can meet their every need. What’s one worry or insecurity in your life right now?
What’s one step you can take this week to position yourself (ahem…humble yourself) to receive His provision? Or to let him provoke you towards belief?
Let’s end with a prayer. You can say something like, “Lord, thank you so much for the gift of your Son, the Bread of Life. Help us trust in that bread for our deepest needs. You are the ultimate provider. We believe! Help our unbelief.” Amen.”
